Of course coming to the realization that I could stand to loose a few pounds got me trying to find ways to exercise that didn't involve driving 20 minutes each way to the gym.
I tried Zumba in my living room. It worked for a while. Youtube videos like this one were fun, and since I love rhythm and dance it was a perfect fit. He only drawback was feeling like a weirdo dancing in my living room by myself. Even worse was feeling like a weirdo dancing in my living room while the hubs played in the iPad. Not nearly as much fun as Zumba with a bunch of friends.
I finally gave in to the idea of running. The high school down the street just put in a new all weather track, so I figured I would take advantage of it. What really inspired me to give running a try was when I found a free podcast called podrunner intervals. I'm doing the first day to 5k interval program. What I like about it is the BPM is perfect for running and walking. I've always had trouble pacing myself. I felt like I wanted to step to the music, but the music I would play would trip me up. With podrunner I can run in time to the music.
I've just finished week 4. I actually look forward to running after the kids are in bed. I never thought that would happen!
